Enter your current grade, completed course weight, final exam weight, and target grade to see the final exam score you need.
Plan several remaining assignments
Add projects, quizzes, labs, or participation scores and leave unknown items blank to calculate the average still needed.
Check whether an A or B is realistic
Use the target table to compare A, B, C, and pass scenarios, including cases where the required score is above 100%.

How the final grade formula works

The calculator treats each grade as a percentage multiplied by its syllabus weight.

Course grade = sum(score x weight / 100)
Required average = remaining points needed / unknown weight

For example, an 86% current grade over 75% completed weight contributes 64.5 course points. To finish with 90% when the final is worth 25%, you need 25.5 more points, or 102% on the final. If you enter scores for some remaining work, those points are locked first and the calculator solves for the still-blank items.

Common target grades

Schools use different grading scales, so treat these as editable targets rather than universal rules.

Target
Common meaning
How to use it
90%
Often an A range target
Use when your syllabus maps 90 or above to an A.
80%
Often a B range target
Use to see whether a solid B is still reachable.
70%
Often a C range target
Useful for minimum major or prerequisite requirements.
60%
Often a pass target
Adjust this if your class uses a higher passing cutoff.
